Google Returned To China
China’s official news agency Xinhua reported that China’s government has confirmed the Google Inc. updates the operating license in China. This license will be valid until 2010 and the government would review it every year. Xinhua quoted a statement from one of the officials who hide their identity.
Google confirmed that it received approval of a license from the Government of China in the last week. Eric Schmidt, Google’s chief executive officer, admitted surprise over the speed internet operation license renewal process.
“There are no formal negotiations between Google and the Government of China in discussing this decision,” Schmidt said.
The existence of this net operating license gives Google the opportunity to pursue their competitors in China, Baidu Inc., and gained revenue from advertisers. Half last year, Google’s dispute with the government’s internet censorship affairs.
